CENTER OF TECHNOLOGICAL AND INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT – PROJECT 1

The R & D project has been developed thanks to the help granted by the Center of Technological and Industrial Development (CDTI) and European Union through co-financing from Feder Funds.

This project corresponds to the open call line RDP (Research and Development Projects) IDI-20150890 supported by the Technological and Industrial Development Center for applied business projects.

The project of Grupo Caro Salmeron pursues the development of polymer films for the coating of dehydrated natural casings that are pleated in order to improve their elongation properties.

The achievement of the stated objectives has allowed us to avoid the current problems in the dehydrated and corrugated casings, such as stiffness, separation of filaments during casings exposure to the heat, loss of adherence and organoleptic properties.

It has achieved a covering of the casing that has made it possible to correct the behavioral problems in the dry casings at the level of curving, split the casing in frying and opening ends obtaining optimal results at functional level.

DEVELOPMENT OF NATURAL CASINGS READY-TO-FILL (RTF)

GRUPO CARO SALMERÓN S.L. has been developing a project called “DEVELOPMENT OF NATURAL CASINGS READY-TO-FILL (RTF) CONSERVED AT ENVIRONMENTAL TEMPERATURE THROUGH THE APPLICATION OF A BARRIER SYSTEM” financed by the CENTER OF TECHNOLOGICAL AND INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT (CDTI) IDI-20170214

The principal objective of the project consists in development of natural “ready-to-fill” (RTF) casings preserved at room temperature with improved mechanical properties that compensate for the effects of dehydration.

At the technical level, this goal has resulted in a product with greater microbiological stability and a lower impact of dehydration on the collagen triple helix, which allows delaying the deterioration of the functional properties of the casings, which imply a significant increase in its service life. In addition, the lower impact caused by dehydration allows to reduce even more the conditioning (soaking and rinsing) of the casings, prior to stuffing.

The development of the project has been carried out in the new and modern facilities that the company has in the El Baico Industrial Estate, in Baza (Granada).

The execution period has been 18 months, with the budget approved for execution of 184,465 €.

The Research and Development project has been carried out with the help of the Technological and Industrial Development Center (CDTI) and the European Union through co-financing of FEDER Funds.
